About the Author

Loukas Tsoukalis is a Greek economist and politician who has served as a member of the European Parliament since 2014. He is also a professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Tsoukalis is a leading expert on European integration and has written extensively on the subject.

Tsoukalis was born in Athens, Greece, in 1952. He studied economics at the University of Athens and the London School of Economics. After graduating, he worked as a researcher at the University of Athens and the European University Institute. In 1981, he joined the faculty of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he is now a professor of economics.

Tsoukalis has held a number of positions in the Greek government. He was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2004 to 2006 and Minister of Finance from 2009 to 2011. He was also a member of the European Parliament from 2009 to 2014.
