About the Author
Simon Scarrow was inspired to write this series of novels during a posting to Rome in 1998, where he visited many of the places described in the books, and was inspired by the history, culture and spectacle of the gladiatorial contests in the Colosseum. He is the author of over thirty historical novels, including the Eagles of the Empire series and the Gladiator series.
